Saskatchewan! Building strong communities, families and individuals.

The Ministry of Social Services is given the authority by The Child and Family Services Act, to provide child protection services to children abused physically, sexually, emotionally and neglect.

Community-based organizations (CBOs) contribute to the inclusion of men, women, children and teens in families and communities, and to the building of independence in young people and adults. With the support of these organizations and the dedicated and conscientious services they provide, the quality of life for many of our residents is improved.

Community Living delivers its programs and services primarily through an extensive system of community-based social, residential, vocational and early childhood agencies. It works in partnership with provincially-based representatives and advocacy organizations.

Family violence is the abuse of one family member by another. Women, men and children can all be victims of family violence. Domestic violence may take many different forms and include physical, mental and emotional abuse, sexual abuse, intimidation and threat.

Foster care provides children a warm and safe environment where they get the care, supervision, support and guidance they need during the time they must live away from home.

Saskatchewan Housing provides services for low to moderate-income households who could not otherwise afford adequate, safe and secure shelter.

Financial assistance to help low-income families move out of poverty are available through income assistance programs.

Various programs are identified here which provide assistance to seniors to meet their basic needs.

The Ministry of Social Services provides services to 16 or 17 year old youth when they appear to be in need of care and supervision when there is no parent who is willing or able to take responsibility for the young person, or the young person cannot return to live with his or her family for reasons of safety.
