The government is providing $1.1 million in additional funding in the 2008-09 budget for transition houses and other community-based organizations that help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Programs & Services YouthThe Ministry of Social Services provides services to 16 or 17 year old youth when they appear to be in need of care and supervision when there is no parent who is willing or able to take responsibility for the young person, or the young person cannot return to live with his or her family for reasons of safety.
